<p>Since KillerRed protein allows controlling the living bacterial cell density with light, additional characterization experiments were performed to relate the fluorescence intensities measured in the microplate readers and in our device to absolute KillerRed concentrations. The His6-tag associated to the protein allowed tu purify it from bacteria and thus to derive a relationship between fluorescence and protein concentration. As a consequence, we were able to estimate the amount of KillerRed protein per bacterial cell, as a function of the FLU/OD600 ratio.<br><br></p>
