Whatsup y'all! I'm Wilson Lam, and to date, I have had the privilege of being a member of the uOttawa iGEM Team for three years. I'm currently studying towards the awesomeness that is an Honours B.Sc. with Specialization in Biochemistry. This year, I was named the President of the team, and I cannot be more proud of what we have been able to accomplish this year. We have collected an incredible group of people on the team, and I'm proud to be a part of a group of such hardworking synthetic biologists. Feel free to follow my ramblings @1MaginAZN!
My name is Yara Abou-Hamde and I will be starting my third year of university this fall. I am studying Biomedical Science with an Option in Medicinal Chemistry. Science is a huge part of who I am and it has been a truly exceptional experience working in the lab as part of iGEM this year. I learned so much about synthetic biology, scientific research and communication as it relates to a research environment. Hey, I'm Bushra! Since graduating from the University of Ottawa with an Honours BSc. in Biomedical Sciences with Minor in Psychology in April, I’ve been travelling the world and working in applied science research. I’ve been a member of the uOttawa iGEM team for 3 years now and have enjoyed every moment of the experience. iGEM unites my love for biology and the real-world applications of science. With extensive experience in research and a past history as a competitive public speaker, iGEM and I are a great fit because it caters to my need to learn new things and to be heard! I assisted the team this year by developing the idea for a children's book about synthetic biology and evaluating the effectiveness of this tool through a research study in Ottawa area schools.
Hey, my name is Kaitlin and I am a third year student studying Biomedical Science with an option in Cellular and Molecular Medicine. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year participating on the iGEM team as part of human practices! I love the opportunity to learn about biology and its real world applications hands on and through peers instead of through professors in a classroom. I can't wait to present our hard work at the Jamboree and see what all the other iGEM teams have been up to!
