University of GroningenWe are the Igem Team for the University of Groningen. As Groningen won the world championsip last year, we are tasked with defending that honor. Our team consists of a good mix from diffrent research field including Chemistry, Biomedical engineering, physics, Computing Science, Industrial Engineering and of course Biology. A very differs team indeed and with so many different perspective we are looking forward to tackling all the different chalanges surrounding our project. Silk secretion By Bascillus subtilisThe main goal of our project would be to implemt Biobricks in order to make the secretion of silk protein (spider silk as well a Bombyx mori silk) possible. Also we want to devolope a new technique for spinning fibers incorporating or newly modified bacterial species. There are many more yet to explore application of a bacteria that can secrete silk proteins. As the secretion of the protein allows us to keep the bacteria alive and therefore use more of their splendid abilities. |
Tell us more about your project. Give us background. Use this as the abstract of your project. Be descriptive but concise (1-2 paragraphs)
