His research interests focus on the utilisation of enzymes from thermophilic organisms and their application in the field of “white biotechnology”. In particular he is interested in the expression of various enzymes, of interest to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, within E. coli in high levels to perform structural and biochemical characterisation, and is investigating the increased stability of these enzymes to a wide range of conditions such as temperature and the different solvents used in industrial processes.
