HUMAN PRACTICE
FOCUSING ON THE PRESENT, LOOKING ON THE FUTURE
The 2013 Peking iGEM team mainly focused on the pollution and detection of toxic aromatic compounds in China. In order to obtain information on public awareness and current attitudes toward aromatic compounds, we hosted a survey on aromatic pollution. To learn more aromatic pollution public policy, we visited the Bureau of Environmental Protection in Beijing, along with a printing factory that uses dye containing aromatics. After all this information gathering, we tested the water sample from Weiming Lake on the PKU campus, along with several Beijing rivers. Furthermore, we continued the tradition set up by PKU iGEM last year, and provided guidance to a high school iGEM team that will be competing next year.
