Figure 1: Fermentation cost of the M.A.P.L.E system. Months describes the duration of the fermentation process. A duration of 6 months indicates that 2 fermentation cycles are possible within 1 year. Currently Metabolix produces P3HB at 4.55€ / kilo / 30,000 tonne plant.
