We would like to invite all teams to submit original work to ACS Synthetic Biology’s "iGEM 2013" special issue. All accepted submissions will be will be freely accessible on the web as viewpoint pieces.

Teams will also have the opportunity to have their work featured on the cover of the special issue and be interviewed for ACS Synthetic Biology’s monthly podcast series.

The submission deadline is January 17th, 2014.

Instructions

If you wish to submit your research to the ACS Synthetic Biology "iGEM 2013" Special Issue (and we hope you do!), please consider the following when preparing your manuscript:

  • iGEM papers will be reviewed by other iGEM teams.
  • The title of the paper should focus on the discovery or new data and not the uber-objective of the team. E.g., if they developed a bacterium to terriform mars, but their data from the summer is a new constitutive promoter, the title should be "A new constitutive promoter with x,y,z properties." No result is too small.
  • The abstract again should also avoid the uber-objective.
  • However, the uber-objective and broad goals and ideas of the team can be outlined in the introduction and ending.
  • The results again should focus on what is shown.
  • Small papers ~500-1000 words are preferred. Please limit your submissions to 2-3 page communications.
  • In the introduction and ending, the paper can have information about the organization, challenges, fun things, whichever associated with the team.
  • Professional-quality figures are encouraged (i.e. please don’t copy/paste graphs from Excel)
