Project Abstract

Our project, Biomiao.org, is different from all the iGEM software projects in the past. We aim to construct a community of Synthetic Biology to help scientists to do more in the cloud age. We have almost realized this dream. We have set up a registry for gene circuits and projects. Sophisticated researchers can find their circuits needed by retrieve the registry and iGEMers can do brainstorm with the help of our website. Mind Road, Circuit List and Latest Update are the three ways to retrieve. A platform has been built to collect handy tools provided by either the iGEM teams or the company to facilitate users to use the information they find to do more things and study Synthetic Biology more conveniently. Among these handy tools, Mind LGD is developed by us. LGD is a genetic circuit designer which can present the logical relationship of related parts. The comment part has been added to all the information tab of circuits and other community features are on the way. Biomiao will be a community driven by idea, circuits, news, tools and comments. It will be somewhat like the Facebook and Twitter, but the more professional one.

We also transplanted TTEC and BioSearch, which are both last year iGEM software, on Clotho. We always believe, an open and powerful software framework or platform, can contribute a lot to Synthetic Biology. This is one of the reasons why we come up with the idea of the platform of useful tools.

Team

We are the 2013 iGEM team ‘SUSTC-Shenzhen-B’. We have nine teamers and four instructors. All of the undergraduate students in this team are sophomores. We are all so interested in Sofeware and Synthetic Biology and we gather and struggle for a whole summer vacation after learning the Programming knowledge since May. We have overcome a series of troubles and difficulties and now we finalize most of our project and we expect to meet all of you iGEMers in the Asia Jamboree :).

Project Description

This summer SUSTC-B has been busy with introducing our software to undergraduates and middle school students. By the way we have also give several speeches to freshman and middle school students, what’s more our team members had several communication activities with other igem teams, including attending BGI workshop, visiting Team Hong_Kong_HKUST and Team Hong_Kong_CUHK. We exchanged our opinions and discussed our projects. the publicity of synthetic biology has a long way to go. And we are on the way.
