Human Practices

For this year, our Human Practices team wanted to go a little bit further. Teams usually think of Human Practices as the study of legal, ethical, moral or biosafety issues. However, our team has found an interesting new point of view: Responsible Research and Innovation. Human Practices encompasses everything that has to do with how humans treat their scientific work, so we thought it could be interesting to look at this section of our project from a different view. We committed to apply “Responsible Research and Innovation” from the first day of work to the last, so that, we would be able to show everyone the clarity and openness that characterizes what we have done.

Responsible Research and Innovation –RRI- is a dialogue between science and society. It is about listening to the world’s necessities. It means that societal actors work together during the whole research and innovation process in order to better align both the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations for (in our case, European) society. RRI is an ambitious challenge for the creation of a Research and Innovation policy driven by the needs of society and engaging all societal actors via inclusive participatory approaches. The Responsible Research and Innovation framework consists of 6 key pillars: engagement, gender equity, science education, open access, ethics and governance.
