Our Team Hello world We are the 2013 iGEM team of Wuhan University. 7 senior students and 3 Junior students constitute of the main body of the team. But participating in iGEM is a comprehensive work, which can not be done without the indispensible help from our friends and guiders. Hereby we want to sincerely thanks: Kenji Adzuma, for his patient guiding of the enzymatic modeling. Yancheng Liu, for his marvelous programming and helps in processing data. Zhaoren HE | Senior student in Biological Sciences
No doubt, Zhaoren is the coolest man in the team. He foucses his attention in biological engineering that exert solid impact on the world. He loves traveling, thinking and exchanging ideas with different people. Before he went to Texas A&M for his internship, He organized the daily operation of the team. He also serves as one of the major experiment designers and the major modeling guy.
Hangxing JIA | Senior student in Biological Sciences
Hangxing Jia (gibsoner) is Senior Student of College of Life Science. Everyone member knows that Hangxing is the one of the most reliable guys in the team. He loves learning new knowledge and appreciate new thoughts. He has a passion on long-distance running and bodybuilding. He is the experimental instructor of the project and overcome many obstacles. After Zhaoren He, he works with Lei Yang and Yang Liu to lead the whole team. He is also one of the major experiment designers and carriers.
Yang LIU | Senior student in Biological Sciences
Hi, I am Yang Liu, a funny and optimistic student from Wuhan University, bringing the laughs and happiness to our team. I have more than two years lab experience, majoring in molecular virology and I am willing to offer the essential skill support to our team. Besides the relevant experiment, I am the steward and diplomatist of WHU-China. I try my best to tackle with all the official issues, keeping the energetic team function normally. Of course, setbacks are always on the way, but, all the frustrating moments would be treasured and thanked by us, finally! Trust me.
Lei YANG | Senior student in Biological Sciences
Enlightened by diverse experiences in both academic and social activities, he appreciates any potential chance of team work which has made him what he is now. However, to be a pure technician is the last thing he actually has in mind. Without doubt, he is quite seasoned in terms of experiments and has accomplished a lot for our project even when he needs to work solely on another project in his lab at the same time.
Yan ZENG| Senior Student of College of Life Science
He is a biology major and a computer minor students. He focuses on the evolutionary genomics，but has previously followed many other fields, such as structural biology, programming, neurobiology ,and artificial intelligence. He always likes challenging, and solving problems makes him happy. As a member of the major driving force of the team, he undertook several parts of the designing work of the project and he constructed all the wiki pages.
Linyi TANG | Senior Student of College of Life Science
I am a happy sunshine girl ! Love making friends. Our team like home, I'd like to play a role of puck in this big family. Spreading the surprise and pleasure, the designer of the mascot, undertake the most original painting. Got the honor to join our team, our family, I firmly believe that nobody could stop our step. Tong LIANG | Junior Student of College of Life Science
I’m Liang Tong, a girl who loves synthetic biology and life science with full enthusiasm. In the free family education model, I learn to take life in my own hands, making every effort to mould it into my own liking. Thus, from making insect specimens in my childhood to learning the knowledge of life science, I figure out biology not only can make me feel delighted, but can make my dream, enabling people to live better, come true. The curiosity about life science impels me to join iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition). I learn a lot from it which are essentials for my scientific research.
Zhaoning WANG | Junior Student of College of Life Science
Zhaoning Wang is a junior at Wuhan university majoring in biological sciences. He was inspired by the spirit of iGEM, and he takes active part in most wet lab work. Directed by Hangxing Jia and Lei Yang, his work in the lab has been concentrated on the construction of dCas9 and gRNA vectors, and he has also done a lot of work helping the lab function in an organized way. Though he seems a little bit nerdy at first sight, he is actually very amiable and humorous. He is also a great traditional Chinese music enthusiast.
Qin AN| Junior Student of College of Life Science
Love E.coli, love life.
As a Grade 2 student who enjoys his lab routine, he never stops exploring. However, driven by the inherent curiosity, he is interested in all fields and he really wonna to become a verstile researcher, hoping finally combinig Life Scence with Computer Science and mathematics some day. Unfortunately, he is still a young layman presently, in all these 3 fields. But just believing in himself, he never gives up.
This year in WHU-university's team, he acted as a multi-role player. He raised an alternative project, did wet jobs in lab, worked as an assistant in wiki building, organized a teach-in on iGEM for students who majors in chemistry.
