About

Ampcillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic that acts as a competitve inhibitor of transpeptidase an enzyme required for cell wall synthesis. Ampicillin works on most gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria.

  3. aliquot in 1 mL stocks and store at -20°C

Stability

  • Ampicillin is not autoclavable, it has to be added before pouring plates (keep in mind that the agar is not too hot when adding it)
  • Culture plates can be stored for about 2 month at 4°C (as a batch in a bag or individually sealed with Parafilm)
