Jamboree Results

What went down during the European iGEM Jamboree 2013 at Lyon, France

“We barely made enough to survive, but when we got up on stage and got ready to play people came alive.”
- Rock’n’Roll Band by Boston

We had an amazing time at Lyon!
We were all very exited about how this great event would unfold. We embarked on our journey from Odense, Denmark, to Lyon, France, early thursday morning, only hours after we finally got our poster printed.

It seems to be a universal fact that any iGEM team from SDU-Denmark will be to exited about the wiki, outreach and lab work to even think about the poster and presentation before wiki freeze. Luckily for us, we had gained so much experience from our outreach projects at the different elementary schools and high schools, that we were able to prepare a good presentation in time. We were to present just after lunch, and we all knew what that meant, that people would be stuffed and tired because of the exquisite cuisine. So we started with a exercise our own supervisors used on us when we were growing tired. See the exercise and the rest of our presentation here.

Besides the presentation we also had to present a poster. The basic idea of our Lyon Poster were to make a frame alike our wiki with our projekt presented through the different parts of our logo. At the big poster session we got to talk with many of the amazing iGEM'ers out there and even the founder Randy Rettberg! We received a great amount of feedback that will help us greatly to increase the logic and viewer friendly approach we aim for. It was inevitable to be astound by the efforts made by all of the other iGEM teams and the many exceptionel projects out there.

So what did SDU-Denmark achieve at this years European Jamboree in Lyon? We were extremely proud to receive Gold for our project this year, and advancement to the World Championship in Boston! Furthermore we went into euphoria when the part number for one of our BioBricks suddenly apeared on the big screen, and the judges anounced that we were to receive an award for Most Improved Registry Part!

To sum up: Gold, special award for Most Improved Registry Part, new acquaintances, lots of fun and advancement to Boston!

Boston, here we come!!
