iGEM 2013

    Our Memories

The International Genetically Engineering Machine – Asian Jamboree (iGEM Asian Jamboree) is the premiere undergraduate Synthetic Biology competition. Student teams are given a kit of biological parts at the beginning of the summer from the Registry of Standard Biological Parts. Working at their own schools over the summer, they use these parts and new parts of their own design to build biological systems and operate them in living cells. This project design and competition format is an exceptionally motivating and effective teaching method.

iGEM Asian Jamboree has been being organized in Hong Kong for three consecutive years starting from 2011. Participants are from various countries and regions including China, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Hong Kong, India and Kazakhstan, etc. It is expected that more other nations and regions will join the iGEM Asia in the coming future. With the devoted endeavor that the iGEM Asia organizing committee has been putting in, the number of participants are on the rise. There were 465 participants in 2011 and 549 participants in 2012 respectively. To re-taste the previous iGEM Asia, you are welcome to visit our websites in the past.
