Chloramphenicol
About
Chloramphenicol is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that specifically binds resudies in the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing peptide bond formation.[1]
Stock
- Mix:
- 1 g chloramphenicol (25 mg/mL)
- ad. 40 mL ethanol
- aliqout in 1 mL stocks and store at -20°C
Stability
- Chloramphenicol is not autoclavable, it has to be added before pouring plates (keep in mind that the agar is not too hot when adding it)
