<p>We have thought of this project by ourselves, so it was not an assignment from one of our supervisors. The supervisors and advisers only had influence on the team as a consultant. All the design, labwork and modeling was done by the team itself and started in June. We also took care of the sponsoring and all other organisational issues, made our own presentations and poster.

Our silk we have developed was based on the article of Brooks et al. (1), but the codon optimization was done by the team itself using software written by one of the team members. We improved the backbone made by the iGEM team from Munich in 2012 and used this backbone for our constructs. We also validated that biobrick (Bba_E0840) works in bacillus subtilis (Figure 1).

Brain storming and discussing:

    All the students have read lots of literature and taken part in the brain storms offering new ideas. The brain storms began in March 2013. and last for a long time. What's more, we have meetings on Sundyas to discuss our project and share achievements with each other.

Experiments:

    The experiments are leading by Xiangmiao Zeng, Xingchen Zhai Yifan Wu. Besides, the sophomores often comes to give a hand and learn some basic skills of experiments as well.

Modeling:

    Modeling was done by Xiangmiao Zeng and Yifan Wu. They learn a lot themselves and Pro. Xu train them sometimes. Finally, thanks for MATLAB.

Designer:
