Open Source Reflexion
We have decided to work on the open source and on its impact in our society. So, we have divided our work in three parts.
- First part : OPEN SOURCE REFLEXION.
We have organized meetings during what two or three of us have presented an aspect of the open source (what is open source, what is the place of the open source synbio in our economy, what comparaison we can do between informatic and synbiology, what are the risk of biohacking...). After each presentation we have debated, and we have hightlighted the important questions we wanted to broach.
- Second part : INTERVIEW REFLEXION.
We have organized an interview with Ellen Jorgensen (the co-founder and president of Genspace an a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting citizen science and access to biotechnology) about the Open Source.
- Thrid part : the Damir's PCR
Our team decided to developp a open source approach which each team could use, share and improve : the "Damir's PCR". We have create a PCR's Machine by ourselves, with XX euros ( = XX dollars) and common tools : xx and xx ... The Damir's PCR is the best exemple of the consequences of the Open Source in synthetic biology : everyone can make it and share it. The goal of this novel approach is to share with other teams the Damir's PCR and use it like a basic tool that can be improved.
