Experiments

Summary of experiments done this summer - The HKUST iGEM 2013 carried out a lot of experiments this summer, including regular plasmid construction, PCR, and mutagenesis. We listed the main experiments done under each module in a clear, forward way.

Experiment 1: Fatty Acid Sensing Mechanism

Introduce inducible system that allows tunable fatty acid uptake by sensing fatty acid concentration

Experiment 2: Protein Trafficking

This is a novel human practice project that we did. We thought it was necessary to gain information of synthetic biology in Asian countries to have a holistic view of synthetic biology around the world.

Experiment 3: Glyoxylate Shunt

It is necessary to think about how our project could be actually applied. Since gene therapy was mentioned as a mean to deliver our DNA into human liver cells, we thought it was necessary to research on the current gene therapy technology.
