Monday

Yesterday we managed to fill in the abstract of our webpage; today we completed the summary of our notebook. As the day passes by, we kept track of our experiment like writing a diary so that we know what is done when and why. This is so that IF something does go wrong, we can always refer back to our little “diary”.

Tuesday

In order to keep things organized, we have decided to put EVERYTHING that is iGEM and project related onto our webpage to share it with our fellow supporters. Today we started off with typing up week one into the notebook. Next time when a specific week is selected, a full overview of that week will be shown.

Wednesday

Writing daily experiment diary in English every day is such a fresh adventure for most of my team member. At first, it takes us much time translating Chinese, however; we benefited a lot in this process. Today, we finally finished week two.

Thursday

A happy summer vacation, a memorable summer vacation, a busy busy summer vacation. Every year during our summer vacations, typhoons come out to play and decide to pay us a visit. Today, we are encountering the first typhoon this vacation and it is incredibly strong and powerful. Though we are all indoors most of the time and working on our project, but we can already hear the wind swooshing outside and feel the breeze racing down the corridors. Hopefully we can make it home safe later on and prayers to those still outside, may they be safe and sound.

Friday

It is only 20:00pm (GMT+8 TST) and it is already pouring cats and dogs outside. We have just finished part of our experiment and contemplating weather or not we should have supper. To our savior! Many many thank to senior Pei for cooking homemade supper for us, it is so sweet and touching because we don't have to swarm in the rain! On the verge of sweet tears, we gulped down the lovely supper prepared and dived back into our iGEM meeting.

Saturday

Today is the first time that we get to prepare LB broth by ourselves. Out of the seven members of our team, only one works with bacteria on a daily basis. To the remaining six members, it is another new adventure to explore! It is always interesting to learn new things but since time is so tight, we are both excited and nervous at the same time.

Sunday

Surprise! Surprise! Surprises are always a good type of stress reliever. Love from Dr. Hong has sincerely touched our hearts deeply. Senior Hong Shi Zhe who is studying his doctorate this year has also helped us a lot throughout our project. If we had any queries he was always willing to give a hand. This evening when we walked into the lab, we saw this really sweet note left on the table that melted our hearts. What really kept us going was the ceaseless support and encouragement from our fellow friends, seniors and teachers. We promise to strive and give in our best to thank those who have walked this road with us!
