Monday

Besides having regular meetings with our own team members, we would also update our advisors with a progress report. Every member will report their part and what they have done this week. This is to ensure that all our members are on track and know what each other is doing; as well as keep ourselves motivated and keep working!

Tuesday

The experimental group has done a great job so far! Quickly they have started with the plasmid extraction and aim to move onto digestion and ligation hopefully by tomorrow. Though we have divided ourselves into groups, we still take turns to do the experiment so that every member feels contributed and get to learn something new at the same time.

Wednesday

So far things has turned out pretty well so as predicted, we could move onto the digestion and ligation part of our experiment today.

Thursday

Today we observed the condition and quality of our competent cells, by using the primers we have predesigned to run a colony PCR. By running the colony PCR, we can see the size of the DNA that has been cloned into our plasmid and if it has met our requirements, then we can keep the bacteria for further growth.

Friday

As said before, iGEM human practice is relatively important. Besides promoting it on our campus and to various faculties, today we went to Fu Xin junior high to share our experience and tell them about synthetic biology and what we do in iGEM. After giving them an outline of what we do, we handed out the surveys that we have designed to let them complete.

Saturday

Since it is the first time for all of us to personally working with synthetic biology, there are a lot of things that we do not understand thoroughly. Though most of the skills are taught in class, but putting paper to work is whole different story! Fortunately, we have managed to invite one of our seniors to share his past experience with us and guide us when we are in perplex.

Sunday

Finally! It is the end of the week and we have got some results from the documental group too! Now that the basic layout of our wiki is finalized, we can start filling in the contents of our webpage to make it more appealing. With every section of the wiki being filled in, comes the sense of satisfaction and excitement because we are another step closer in completing our project! Go Go Go Hypnoseq!
