Team Uppsala 2013
About us
Team Uppsala iGEM is competing for the fifth time this year, and this time we are a group of 29 under- and overgraduate students in the fields of biotechnology and microbiology. We study at Uppsala University or it’s academic sister Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Both lie in Uppsala, once the capital of Sweden and center of norse religion; and today home to the oldest university in scandinavia and a big life-science cluster. Our lab is located in Uppsala Biomedical Center.
Because we are a relatively large team we have decided to divide ourselves into three groups. Two groups primarily focus on producing a number of “healthy molecules” to be later incorporated into our probiotic strain of lactobacillus while the third group’s sole purpose is to develop standard biological parts and vectors for the lactobacillus genus, that we have decided to introduce as a new chassi to the synthetic biology community for this years iGEM competition.
